Dog Owners Caught In Urine Test.
It has been scientifically proven in a series of urine tests that dog owners get a high from their pets reports the Daily Mail online.
Scientists have tested the urine of several sample groups of dog lovers and have concluded that looking at your pet poodle can boost your oxytocin levels. This chemical is also known as the “love drug” and is connected with the emotions a mother experiences looking at her infant.
Miho Nagasawa and Takefumi Kikusui of Japan applied their biological training to track down the reason they felt a comforting bond with their pet dogs. They discovered the oxytocin key – oxytocin is known to fight depression and stress, and is associated with the concept of trust.
The urine results revealed that after half an hour of playing with their doggy companions, dog owners experienced a 20 per cent rise in the levels of the natural love drug. The control group who were instructed to avert their eyes from their pets during the sessions actually experienced a drop in oxytocin levels.
This research helps to explain what we have known for years; that pet owners experience less stress related illnesses and live longer.
