Dog CPR Saves Man’s Life
An extraordinary story of a man who gives his dog a kiss of life and receives life in return.
Barry Whitehill was out hunting with his two German Wirehaired Pointers when he entered an area laced with snares. Unfortunately both his dogs were caught in snares.
After releasing the older dog Whitehill realised his younger dog was also missing. He discovered the 3 year old dog in another snare. The dog appeared lifeless having been choked by the snare.
Whitehill did what any dog lover would do and began to administer CPR to his beloved dog. A huge effort by Whitehill revived Tink the dog. Once breathing again Whitehill hoisted Tink over his shoulders and trekked out of the woods to the animal hospital.
In a strange twist of fate Whitehill suffered from hearing loss and numbness of his mouth and arm while carrying his dog. After making sure his dog was safe Whitehill went to the hospital himself where he discovered bleeding on his brain.
It turns out the strain of saving Tink’s Life triggered a series of mini-strokes. Had Whitehill not had these, he would not have gone to the emergency room and his bleeding of the brain would have gone undetected until it was too late.
The doctors are hopefull that Whitehill’s condition can be treated with medication because of its early discovery.
The kiss of life saves both man and dog – in what can only be described as a truly remarkable story.
We wish them both many more years of happiness. source
