The reign of Saddam Hussein’s terror is not over for the stray dogs of Baghdad.
Despite a respite in recent times, the slaughter of stray dogs on the streets of Baghdad has begun again. More than 200 dogs fell on the opening day of exterminations.
The drastic measures were a response to recent fatal attacks by the marauding packs of wild dogs. Thirteen people in the month of August alone lost their lives in dog attacks. Residents have been trapped in their own homes afraid to come out when the dogs are present.
